Stop work order: Non-emergency construction has halted in NYC

[The incoming tech hub on 14th Street from Saturday]

ICYMI: New York State has implemented a ban on non-essential construction during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Moving forward, only emergency construction — a project necessary to protect health and safety of the occupants, or to continue a project if it would be unsafe to allow it to remain undone until it is safe to shut the site — is exempted from the ban.

Other essential construction includes work on roads, bridges, transit facilities, utilities, hospitals or health care facilities, affordable housing, and homeless shelters.

In addition, someone who is the sole employee/worker on a job site is also exempt from the ban that Gov. Cuomo announced late last week.

This Department of Buildings link has more details on the ban and how to file paperwork for projects in the interim.

202 avenue A construction was perhaps putting things under wraps yesterday?Hopefully.
However, 204 avenue A was putting up their scaffold.
Commencing a new construction project at this time? really?
this is allegedly "affordable housing" are they exempt?
If you really want people to stay home and stay safe,
don't create conditions that render it uncomfortable.

I moaned about this to our Councilwoman and her staff has actually been responsive in trying to do something about this. Not sure how it can be enforced, you can't get through the covid messages on 311 to actually talk to somebody.

202 Ave A is at work again today. This a renovation of a market rate apartment building. They should not be working.

204 is listed as an affordable housing renovation.

There seems to be construction going at 75 First Avenue between 4th and 5th Streets next to Rite-Aid.

Called 311- that said Non-essential construction is not in their system yet because a department hasn't been chosen to act on the complaint.
