Veniero's is closing after today for the duration of the coronavirus outbreak

Today (March 28) is the last day for walk-in service at Veniero's Pasticceria & Caffe, 342 E. 11th St. between First Avenue and Second Avenue.

And today then, cakes, cookies and pastries at the circa-1894 bakery are 50 percent off (IN STORE ONLY).

Venirero's is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. today.

Thanks to Lola SaƩnz for these photos!

Updated 11:54 a.m.

The closure extends to all facets of the business, including deliveries...

Thank you for staying open as long as you did. There comes a time when it is better for all to be closed for a few weeks. You survived over 100 years through the good and the bad and the ugly. You will survive this crisis as well. The community....the entire city of NY will welcome you back with open wallets when you return.

Grieve, thanks for the heads-up on this; I was able to get enough goodies to tide me over for a while! They were pretty well cleaned-out of many things when I got there around 3pm this afternoon.

Stay safe & healthy, everyone at Veniero's!

For those who will need their sweet fix and have flour, oats, sugar, chocolate etc. available I recommend a batch of cowboy cookies, link to Moosewood recipe to follow. I highly recommend adding the raisins and walnuts. It is a flexible recipe. It can all be done by hand and no special abilities required. We use less chocolate than called for and you might reduce the sugar by a tablespoon or two according to taste.

Enjoy now or later.
