Nón Lá bringing Vietnamese cuisine to 4th Street

Nón Lá Vietnamese Kitchen is coming soon to 128 E. Fourth St. between First Avenue and Second Avenue...
This new venture is from Ronny Nguyen, who runs the very solid Sao Mai on First Avenue. As we understand it, his son will be operating Nón Lá.

The space was home to Lui's Thai Food. As previously reported, chef-owner Pimnapa "Lek" Sunthatkolkarn had to retire her business after being hospitalized late in the summer.

Thanks to Stacie Joy for the photos and tip!

Lui's really was the best. Every other place is generic slop. I'd say Fish Cheeks is comparable in quality and taste but not in price. I would go with Thai Diner now - which is a bit further but worth it.

We have alot of Vietnamese places now. Sao Mai, Hanoi House, Madame Vo, Banh Mi Zion, Van Da, Love Mama, Xe May, Nickys, V Nam and this new joint.

Can we get a fish monger? That would fill a void...

Terra Thai on 6th St and Prim on 1st St are also excellent.

For the folks asking for an update on Lek, she returned to Thailand to see her family and receive treatment for her illness. She was still in mandatory quarantine last time I heard from her. If I receive any future updates that she is okay with me sharing, I will let you know. She did say she is very grateful to everyone who reached out to wish her well and help with her fundraiser.
