FDNY removes dangling duct on St. Mark's Place

A little earlier this evening, the FDNY was on the scene at 77 79 St. Mark's Place just west of First Avenue... Reader EVGayBear sent along these photos with a short narrative: "So this duct was hanging off the roof of the building, and the firefighters went up in their ladder, ripped it off, and took it down before it could fall and crush people. I guess the high winds knocked it over."

I was also thinking that duct looked familiar for a moment... like, a hand...

Interesting that the winds we've had have knocked over this kind of thing. I'm from Chicago, and by prairie standards this wind is really nothing. There must be something lacking in the New York City Building Code or its enforcement.

Please change the address, it's labeled incorrectly. It was 79 St. Marks Pl. I know, I live there. They knocked on my door.

Ha ha ha! It's funny, when I looked at the second picture I thought to myself, "It kind of looks like a big silver hand." But I didn't think about that Queen cover till I scrolled down. I just spit beer all over my computer screen while laughing! Thanks for the larf!

What they're not telling us is the rest of the robot body is up there on the roof.

They should bill the property owner. This is not an accident.

Could also be why we've been having fireplace issues that we were told would be looked into but have not been...
