City removes rammed tree alongside Tompkins Square Park

Last Friday, we noted that someone or something rammed this tree on Avenue B along Tompkins Square Park...

Apparently the damage was bad enough that the city needed to remove the tree...

Digusting. Someone should be fined majorly for the damage. Hopefully they get a lil sapling in there ASAP. A sap. ling.

They never replace the trees they take down, they just leave those disgusting holes, or worse: the basket type coverings that get filled with trash (on St. Mark's, at least). So sad.

Where/how can one request tree replacements from NYC? 311? Online somewhere?
