50 Avenue A is no longer a Citibank branch

About 20 minutes after the Citibank branch shut down operations yesterday at 50 Avenue A, workers began removing the signage here between Third Street and Fourth Street...

Workers continued to haul out the remains of the bank branch today... while telling customers that they need to go to the Seward Park branch on Grand Street for banking business...

There is also a Citibank ATM inside the 7-Eleven on Avenue A at 11th Street (and a branch on First Avenue in Stuy Town)...

Previously on EV Grieve:
The Citibank branch on Avenue A is closing

This sucks. I am a resident of Alphabet City and will have to travel to Astor Place for the nearest branch. One would think with the onset of banks galore in the EV, Citibank would be able to secure a location that is central and accessible to those of us us living east of Broadway. I don't understand their logic or how they factor in their decision making.

Where's that Bitcoin ATM when you need one?

Not a citi customer, but really liked the vestibule to keep warm while waiting for the bus...

Yup, this is terrible news. Been a customer for a long, long time and this branch was convenient and the staff friendly. Now? Grand Street is, in no way, convenient, so now it's going to mean a schlep to Broadway and 8th to do my banking. Thanks Citi!

Consider the Lower East Side People's Credit Union on 3rd and Avenue B. Keep your money in the neighborhood. Excellent service, rates, and even Saturday hours!

One of the tellers informed me that the Duane Reade on Avenue B near 3rd street will have a full service ATM eventually. Hope that's correct.
