I love watching the progress of the artwork going up on The Bean. It's so important to support local artists like The Bean and Tompkins Square Bagels have done. I hope other businesses will do the same. It's a win against corporate chains.

Yeah but what makes you think that the landlords of these stores aren't worse than some of the buildings that have chains in them? Both of these places are in buildings with really bad landlords. It's not the tile work, I like the tile work. What is better, say a building that has a Dunkin Doughnuts on the ground floor with long time EV tenants in rent stabalized apartments above, or a building that houses a business that isn't a chain yet it has driven out every tenant through harassment and where the business sides with the evil landlord?
I'm for the long time residents over businesses, which doesn't mean that i don't enjoy the tile work.
