Daffodils make an appearance in Tompkins Square Park

As EVG regular peter radley noted this afternoon, the daffodils are breaking through the soil in Tompkins Square Park...

Hawkie, Eat your veggies, for a balanced diet!

That rat should be cited for indecent exposure! Now there's a bird that wouldn't be caught DEAD shopping at a 7-11. Local indeed.

So, here is a question. A hawk has been hanging out on the eastern most tree on the southern side of 7th street between A and B late in the evenings. I have seen it personal 3 out of the last 5 or so nights.

Is just sitting in a tree a normal hawk thing? Like no nest? Just perched there. I really enjoy it welcoming me home, but I was somewhat concerned. Any insight would be welcome, I just don't know much about raptor behavior.

Great pics btw.

yup, hawks hanging around, checking out the scene, is pretty normal - checkin' out the 'hood, seein' if there are any loft(y) places available, what's the restaurant scene like, etc.
