Several readers have passed along word that the NYPD has closed Adinah's Farm on Avenue C and East Second Street ... we don't exactly what transpired here... the sign on the corner deli's door notes "stolen property offenses."

Every time I went to The Stone , and bought a beer at that deli They would warn me not to brown bag it and drink it on the street Cause they said the cops always gave tickets there and they would let me Drink it in the store !
This is quite common in so-called "Mom and Pop" stores, although I'm sorry it's true for this one. This was a decent store. They had the lowest price on DeCecco pasta!
I was on line there once about 8 people deep when one of the neighborhood thugs comes in, blatantly cuts the line and buys cigarettes, and the attendant takes it no problem. No one says shit except me and the patron starts cursing at me and making the "i'll cut your throat" sign and sad he'd be waiting for me outside.

Do you think they'll re-open? This is my deli for many years! I buy my banana there on the mornings I go running along the East River.
Adinah's is my deli too. The person who annon dude called "attendant", was probably Kevin. The people that work there have done a lot to serve the merging communities of this neighborhood. I give them props for being there as long as they have.
They're more aware of the greater good, and let someone cut the line, then to get pissed off about it.
They are peace makers.
The cops from both the 7th and 9th pcts. come there for their sandwiches and drinks every night..
They are also on the edge of the world. Ave C is like a trail of tears, for the stolen goods that come from the the Lower East Side. Every night, people go from store to store up C. Adinah's is a pretty clean store, on many levels.
I'm sure there was some sort of sting going on.

Apparently they were purchasing stolen goods from the Duane Reade. They'd been warned previously not to be buyers but I guess there was a straw too many for the camel's back. We understand they're owned by Gracefully - I hope they come back.
Oh yeah... bodegas are so much safer and better than a 7-11

I agree with this statement but the trick here is to throw them out of the store and not buy from them.
6:55 anon-- I waited until my purchase was done and walked outside nd the guy want there. One thing I learned from growing up in the Bronx, hoods ain't shit unless they got their friends with them. Mostly cowards.
Yeah they are owned by Grace who runs a chain of delis including the more upscale Gracefully on Ave A. Grace is a pioneer of these enterprises in the downtown area. I've lived near this corner for 30 years and remember when the store opened. I always had a friendly relationship with her but one year there was a general strike by Mexican workers for improved conditions. I wanted to get her angle for a possible article and for my own satisfaction since she always seemed to be a decent person. Those business are known to be exploitive but try can also function as startup venues for the lower end of the pyramid, only if you are Korean. After the strike te graveyard shifts ceased to be a demand for the Mexican laborers and they also became elevated to higher level jobs than stock and cleaners. There are now latino employees on the cash register and management level. I never inquirers about the business operations since the no response, but I do have a friendly relationship with almost everyone there. Still Im not crazy about The prices or the inventory anymore and prefer The supermarket except for some of the specialty items.
