It appears that the 12-floor condoplex rising at the former open-air shops on Broadway near East Fourth Street has reached the top... as the photo from the last sunny day here shows...
The 16-unit project is known as 1 Great Jones Alley, which will include a "private gated alley" via Great Jones...the broker bunting on the sidewalk bridge promises "a private paradise" ...

I can't imagine what kind of "paradise" would thrive in that dark, narrow space.

Paying homage to bath houses, so funny, reaching for any kind of relevance to when the city was cultured, creative, interesting, and a little dirty.
I love how they remove most of the interior walls and position their creative cost cutting as open space.
The people who will buy here probably know who Warhol was. But the Basquiat and Haring reference may be lost on them. And the babble about "bathhouses" is full on tacky considering they were places where people who had no bathing facilities at home had to go to get clean.
I wonder how much that enormous loft on Great Jones St. from the movie "Alphabet City" would go for in todays market.

Warhol, Basquiat and Haring was 30 years ago. Are buyers that stupid to be influenced by such marketing baloney?
