East 12th Street and Avenue A tonight: Waiting for the President to pass by

Our photographer friend Michael Sean Edwards was among the many stuck waiting at 12th Street and Avenue A tonight ... He passed along a few photos from the corner...

... and the money shot...

So what was the story? The NYPD wasn't letting anyone cross 12th Street from C to Fifth Avenue for nearly 30 minutes? One person told me that, though we weren't sure exactly what the wait time was...

i was stuck on broadway and 12th for 15 minutes, trying to cross the street. there were 100s of people there, some which had been there longer than me. the motorcade was going westbound on an eastbound street - probably why they closed them down for so long, to make sure there wasn't any pedestrian or car or bike traffic to be confused. but why bother? plenty of westbound streets he could have used...

ALl fuckin day with these helicopters again. I have never heard so many annoying, creepy helicopters overheard more than I have this fall, what is going on today now that this is happening again? Related to this???

@Anon 5:32 - Today it's the protest of hotel cleaners on Broadway and 15th. And if you think this is bad you probably weren't here during the GOP national convention. The helicopters were non-stop.
