What's taking over the TenEleven space on Avenue C

On June 5, we reported that TenEleven would be closing at 171 Avenue C at the end of this month.

A reader left us this comment on the post:

"The new bar there will be called Evelyn Drinkery, I believe. The guys are cool and have some cool ideas."

There is a landing page for the bar with an email address ... they also created a Facebook and Twitter account ...

Via Facebook, one of the Evelyn Drinkery proprietors declined to share any information about the new bar at this time. (For instance, we were curious about the new bar name, and if it had anything to do with one of TenEleven's owners, Evelyn McCue.)

However, he did say "I can assure you and your readers that we are all well acquainted with the neighborhood and only plan on beautifying The spot."

According to Facebook, they plan to open in August.

I believe that is Evelyn McCue. I've heard she will still be involved with the place, but I think it's in more of a silent capacity.

Avenue C = Avenue Cocktail

Summit Bar, the Wayland and now this :)

I went there on Saturday, it's pretty pathetic. It looks nice & all, but the cocktail list is sad & the clientele didn't help. They did, however, have $5 Tiger tall boys, a plus...

What kind of facility is a ‘drinkery’ exactly can I ask, without sounding ignorant? Ok, I looked it up myself and the definition given is ‘barroom and saloon’ so it’s supposed to be a real drinking den as opposed to a cocktail bar or some kind of lounge type place. I visited last week to check if this was correct and it was a nice place and we had some cracking cocktails, but not really what I was expecting from the name.
