RBG for 1st and 11th

Here's an in-progress look at the new RBG mural going up on the southwest corner of First Avenue and 11th Street... the mural is by @ellestreetart.

Earlier this month, workers removed Shepard Fairey's "Rise Above" mural that had been on this space for the past four years.

And as several people have already noted, this will be quite the contrast to the Michael Jackson mural on the southeast corner of First Avenue and 11th Street...

Thanks to William Klayer for the photo... and to Lola Sáenz for the initial tip!

Well, this is a very acceptable substitution. Although it is really idiotic to remove a Shepard Fairey. Just renew it and preserve it. What's next, scraping off Banksys?

A nice mural that could be found in some areas north of the city.

RGB is celebrated in Ithaca, NY, a stronghold Democratic city in a Republican oriented Upstate NY by the Finger Lakes.

The reason: She's a graduate of Cornell University which is based there. A few of Cornell's residence halls will be named after her.

Since we're all big art experts here, one thing is clear: RGB mural, no monetary value. Fairley mural, more than what anyone here makes in a decade of hard work.

Maybe the mural is not about monetary value, have you considered that?

Wonderful!! I've been sad and perplexed about the painting over of the previous mural. This makes it all okay!
