1 reason to look forward to September

Brett Morgen's David Bowie documentary "Moonage Daydream" just premiered in the Cannes Midnight Screenings section.

The film has a September release... and the first trailer dropped yesterday. Check it out.

And the official blurbage about the film...
From Oscar-nominated filmmaker Brett Morgen, director of "Cobain: Montage of Heck," and featuring never-before-seen concert footage, MOONAGE DAYDREAM is an immersive cinematic experience; an audio-visual space odyssey that not only illuminates the enigmatic legacy of David Bowie but also serves as a guide to living a fulfilling and meaningful life in the 21st Century.

MOONAGE DAYDREAM is not a documentary. It is a genre-defying cinematic experience based on one of the most iconic and global rock stars of all time, destined to be one of the defining cultural moments of the year The film has the full support of Bowie's estate and features many of his greatest tracks, as well as previously unseen concert footage.

Bowie, a longtime resident of Lafayette Street, died in January 2016.

The first time I saw Bowie live was at Radio City Music Hall, 1974. None of my friends would go with me cause they all thought he was too weird. So I went alone. It was an amazing show!

So looking forward to seeing Moonage Daydream. However, the bombastic over the top soundtrack is a bit overwrought and has nothing what so ever to do with the actual musical genius of the man himself. To me, it's a fake introduction to a man (?) who needs no introduction. And what exactly is meant by "full support of Bowie's estate" as his catalog was sold to Warner Chapell Music earlier this year for $250 million. As Andy Warhol famously said, "Death means money"..............
