melany, i found it a bit tacky with little that is not broken or expensive. sort of what had spilled out on to the street when the lot was closed. a few folks from the old flea were there. the food is grilled hot dogs which would have been better cooked directly on a fire. fire burnt meat tastes best. since this is the first day after a considerable absence there is hope. i certainly missed the flea and am glad it's back. i hope it loses that cheap broken stolen ambiance. and it would be nice if the vendors didn't compete with their loud music.
@ Blue Glass--sorry you did not like the Flea Market. Some of these people try to supplement their incomes this way. To them--throw away is not the norm. Lots of things have value--it is in the eye of the beholder. There is Puerto Rican food there too in the back--but alas not done on an open fire so you would not like that either. To the other people who were having a good time--I did too!
Here, you'll find things that you may or may not be interested in about the East Village and other parts of New York City. Appreciating what's here while it's still here. Remembering what's no longer here. Wishing some things weren't here that are here.
