After a visit to the Double Down Saloon on Avenue A yesterday, inspectors closed the bar and affixed the familiar yellow sticker of doom on the door... Inspectors haven't filed the report online yet.
Updated:
The inspector's report is now online... 68 total violation points, per the DOH... the usual 4-legged things... plus! " No facilities available to wash, rinse and sanitize utensils and/or equipment."

Must have been the "Ass Juice" drink they serve LOL
contained real ass
i think it's the ongoing persecution of dive bars while the yuppie hell holes get carte blanche. honestly.
DOH is Bloomberg's legalized mafia; they do not actually 'protect' the joints and public from unhealthy things but they are the racketeers themselves, and DOH shutting a joint down is merely extortion, the fees they levied are 'protection' money.
Beginning of month closures usually have something to do with a failure to renew violation. A really lame way to rack up a few grand in fines.
I'm glad to see them closed...one less alcohol loading zone in the neighborhood.
10:58am-- mcwater much?
I went to Double Down last Wednesday (May 1st) and it was closed. So I went to The Library across the street. Got just as drunk just as fast. Although there was a distinct lack of TVs playing vintage kink/bondage porn, there was one TV playing The Breakfast Club that only seemed to be able to display the color green. So that was entertaining.
