Eastside Bakery has closed
A tipster passes along word that workers have cleaned out Eastside Bakery (.net?) on Second Avenue and St. Mark's Place... the place is now empty. No note.
This whole northwest corner here is up for grabs. Cohen's Fashion Optical moved out about two months ago... Michael "Bao" Huynh's Baoguette Cafe around on St. Mark's Place closed last fall... and Timi's Gelateria Classica™ closed in December 2011.
Hey, the space is all empty for the Gap to return!

Now they can put more Citibikes and docking stations there.
Or better yet, the St. Mark's Cinema, with $2 double features.
I live 5 doors down from this place... never went there: overpriced Starbucks wanna be tourist trap.
.
Now what will go on its place tho... it will probably be worse.
Maybe a subway stop will be placed there... the second avenue subway and its construction mess will eventually flow down our way...
I shudder at the thought at that, the explosions, construction mess and barriers.
Yes Gojira a St. Marks cinema return would be great... but it would never happen, much less for two dollars.. try 20$ for 3D Jurassic Pork
Actually, these days, return of The Gap would be an improvement. (incredible as that sounds)
good riddance.
this place had the worst baked goods ive ever purchased. inedible.
