Takeout openings: William Barnacle Tavern, 2A

The William Barnacle Tavern opened today for take-home drinks here at Theater 80, 80 St. Mark's Place near First Avenue.

Steven ran into proprietor Lorcan Otway, whose bar offerings include mead, an alcohol made from water, honey and yeast...

And 2A has their take-home setup happening at their Second Street window here at Avenue A...

... and there are flyers asking patrons to move along after making their purchase...

This weekend, there were plenty of young people hanging out in groups in front of 2A, unmasked and not even trying to stay six feet apart. I understand the desire to get outside and have an al fresco drink, but there are still rules. 2A needs to enforce that sign. Otherwise, it's just an attractive nuisance.

@Sarah - it's a sad commentary on our society but masks are fading on the street. Less and less. And the day drinkers only stop happy houring if there are cops standing right there.

Glad about 2A signs. There was a lot of young (around my age but whatever) douche types crowding around hanging out like it was some novel new outdoor bar for them last weekend, I was wondering WTF.

Yeah, "move along" - go stand on some different corner under someone else's windows and bellow out your pleasure at being oblivious to... to everything and everyone! Yay?
