Nicky's staying in the East Village; Graceland moving out?

Following up on our scoop last week about Nicky's Vietnamese Sandwiches on Second Street possibly closing up shop...

An EV Grieve reader talked with another member of the Dang family. Per the reader:

"They will not be closing until the next 2 - 3 months ... it is up to the landlord. He says that they are going to be moving just a block or 2 away from the current EV location and will have more space, less rent and still play 'The Simpsons.' The FiDi location will be run by his sister."

And this:

"He also said that the deli around the corner, Graceland (not the high-end one) is going to be forced to close as well as the landlord wants a substantial amount more in rent."

Which, I suppose, makes sense: Graceland and Nicky's share the same building...

I'm in Graceland every single day; this is going to be a huge inconvenience. Not to mention the loss of such nice people in the neighborhood.

OK, this makes me want to cry. I hope it's not true. I'm in Graceland every day as well. The people who work there are like an extended family to me. This would be so sad.

I'm all for lively debate, opinions and criticism... However, anti-gay slurs will not be published... such as the one in your previous comment that I deleted.

Anon also doesn't know the difference between Graceland and Gracefully, which were initially related, but haven't been for some years. Remember when Gracefully opened and it had fish, meat, and GAME? Alas, most people in this neighborhood don't cook, so that didn't last long. (PS--I've been slagged by an Anon who came to my blog via your link to me. Just wondering...)
