Updated: Shepard Fairey creating new mural for the Cooper Square Hotel

Following up on yesterday's post about the whitewashing of the mural on the Cooper Square Hotel... Just like that, a new mural is in progress...

We asked a Cooper employee for confirmation of the artist, but he said he didn't know... Uh-huh. Anyway, Shepard Fairey is creating this mural too.

just lookin' said...

anyone else think that so far, it's weirdly similar to the background on Shepard Fairey's Houston mural? the patchiness and color scheme are the same; and the pattern on the upper left patch is almost identical to this: http://gothamist.com/2010/04/20/mural_1.php.

You're correct, just lookin' ... I thought Shepard Fairey was also creating this mural (as you point out, the work is identical) ... But I was awaiting for confirmation.
