No sympathy for Sammy?

Speaking of Sammy... As far as I know, Sammy is still missing. (I recently saw a Craigslist ad offering the cash reward.) I continue to see new flyers too.

Meanwhile, I was always curious why so many of the flyers were defaced... (Aside from the fact that, there were just more of them...) What was it about these missing pet signs that prompted someone to write, say, "Moved to LA" on them?

As you can see by your 5000 examples of graffiti on this plague of flyers, people are sick and tired of this litter wallpapering their city.
It was obnoxious when the owners displayed such a disproportionate reaction to the loss of their unleashed pet, and displayed their sense of entitlement and arrogance by putting thousands of these flyers (illegally) on all types of public property.

We're all sympathetic to the loss of one's pet, and can certainly look the other way when our civic laws are bent in time of need, but when the reaction is bigger than an Amber Alert, it's clear to me that something is wrong with this picture.

I had way too much fun adding my comments - I still believe Sammy is trapped in the owner's purse under an old Ipod case. And it wasn't clear in this stupid society that Sammy wasn't some kind of reality show, maybe starring Guiliani's shoplifter daughter?

I admit, I am the black Sharpie. I even had Sammy join the gang The Crips. AND Sammy " We will never Forget."

Why did you do it, anon?

I was sick of seeing those fliers posted all over my neighborhood. They were on every single metal pole, mail box and phone booth in the East Village, LES and Chinatown. AND, it's funny?

Ah, thanks. Was just curious!

Have you retired, or will you still hit a Sammy sign when you see one....?

Oh, I am far from retired. In fact, I just wrote on a Sammy flier today!

We need a nickname for you.

Summer of Sammy Scrawler? Hmm...

I don't know about a nickname, but I'm thinking all this could be an inspriation for a remake:

This might even bring Benji out of retirement.

i am summer of sammy's comrade. make no mistake: we share sammy's owners' grief, and hope that whomever committed this vile act of canine expariation will release him soon. while summer of sammy finds fault with his owners' valiant attempts to locate him with mass communiques, i applaud their use of such public forums to liberate him. sammy will be found, and his oppressors dealt with accordingly!
