Here is the CBGB movie soundtrack

You may have seen this yesterday ... Omnivore Recordings is releasing the “CBGB: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” on Oct. 8. (The first pressing is reportedly on translucent pink vinyl.)

And, via Billboard Magazine, here's the track listing:

Life During Wartime – Talking Heads
Kick Out the Jams (Uncensored Version) – MC5
Chatterbox – New York Dolls
Careful – Television
Blank Generation – Richard Hell & The Voidoids
Slow Death – Flamin’ Groovies
I Can’t Stand It – The Velvet Underground
Out of Control – Wayne County & The Electric Chairs
Psychotic Reaction – The Count Five
All For the Love of Rock ’n’ Roll (Live) – Tuff Darts
All By Myself – Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers
California Sun (Original Demo) – The Dictators
Caught With the Meat in Your Mouth – Dead Boys
I Got Knocked Down (But I’ll Get Up) – Joey Ramone
Get Outta My Way – The Laughing Dogs
Sunday Girl (2013 Version) – Blondie
I Wanna Be Your Dog – The Stooges
Sonic Reducer – Dead Boys
Roxanne – The Police
Birds and the Bees – Hilly Kristal

Thoughts?

As Billboard noted, after premiering at the CBGB Festival, the film opens Oct. 11 in New York, Los Angeles and other select cities.

It's difficult to put together a decent compilation, especially so many years later, when so many have already been produced. In this case it's probably even harder, since they're limited by copyrights and user fees, artist refusal, the need to make the song fit the scene, etc.
I'll say one thing though: it's seriously devoid of female artists.

Seems fine. Do you know if the band performance scenes in the movie were taken from actual footage when they were originally performed or recreated?

Not sure I like the sound of a 2013 version of Blondie's Sunday Girl. I'd rather hear a more original version (especially since CBGB was already no mas in 2013).

No Patti Smith? I guess she didn't want to participate.

Who the heck would want to hear The Police's song "Roxanne" ever again? Strange choice.

No Ramones, emphasis on the plural?

Roxanne but no Patti? Joey Ramone but not the Ramones? Life during wartime but not psycho killer? WTF

Don't quite get "Kick Out the Jams". MC5 were a "hard rock" band from the 60s.
As for absence of The Cramps, I don't really remember them at CB (though that's no surprise). I always saw them at mudd.

I think this is a very decent start, considering the copyright/licensing issues that they likely came up against.

It's pretty obvious that they had to work around licensing issues. Warner Music (at helm of Seymour Stein who signed the Ramones) owns the Ramones catalog. Interesting to me that they seemingly wouldn't cooperate with this project.

No "You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory" means there won't be a slow tracking shot down the stairs and through the doorways of CB's where the personalities of the movie fade away as the scene begins to unfold and die... What kind of conventional movie is this?!?
