Avant Garden continuing to offer free meals to those in need

As a reminder... Avant Garden is offering free plant-based meals to anyone in need ... this happens Wednesdays through Sundays, 4 to 9 p.m., here at 130 E. Seventh St. just west of Avenue A...

In March, Ravi DeRossi's East Village restaurants were giving out free lunches to NYC school kids.

Reading about this along with other restaurants and groups that are offering free meals to anyone in need, I am VERY VERY impressed with the true spirit of decency and the true spirit of the East Village. And, BTW, you'll notice that all of this is being done by non-"bro" people.

Those who are putting their hearts, souls, time, backs and brains into making these meals available represent the BEST of this city and this neighborhood. I thank all of them for reminding us, in real time, what leadership and true caring look like.
