Tenzin, the owner, says his last day will be March 26. Until then, he has discounted items by 20 to 80 percent ...
Tenzin said he simply couldn't make the rent anymore and decided to close. (There was not a rent increase, and at the same time, the landlord was not going to negotiate a lower rate.)
Himalayan Vision and Millie, the store cat... will be missed...
Himalayan Vision is open noon-8 p.m. ... and closed on Wednesdays.
And we were told that Tenzin won't be able to keep Millie. So if there's anyone interested in adopting her, please reach out to Tenzin at the shop. [Updated 3/26: Millie has a new home!]

Here comes another ugly deli, or a smoke shop.
I feel bad about the business, and I really hope that Millie finds a nice new home đź–¤
Oh no! This makes me sad. Another loss for our community. I am a cat dad myself here in the east village and have an orange tabby male who is the love of my life. If I didn't live in studio, I'd think about adopting her. She is a beauty. I adore cats. I hope she finds a new home and family :)
Please update us if Millie finds a new home!
Damn. I love their big leather bound journals. Re: Millie. Millie can not ever be around a dog. Before they put the 'No Dog' sign up, I went in with my Italian Greyhound one day and Millie lost her shit... gave my legs the Freddy Krueger treatment. Thankfully Violet was spared.
Oh no! Tenzin was so nice to me. I met him one day when I was feeling ill and almost passed out in front of his store. He took me in and let me sit inside until I felt better. I hope someone in the neighborhood will take Millie! <3 Thanks for sharing the story.
Aaawwww. So sad about this. We are losing another great family owned business. They have such great merchandise and it is always an interesting place to shop. Best of luck!
I bet it will
sit empty for 11-22 months, then
a bubble tea shop will open for 1-2 years then suddenly shut down, then sit empty for 11-22 months, then
a novelty food shop will open for 1-2 years then shut down, then
start over again...
Hope millie finds a home!
