Today in Urban Etiquette dog poop signs

On the topic of Urban Etiquette Signs, a reader sent us the shot below from East 12th Street near Avenue B where "there is always dog shit smeared on the sidewalk."

Here's one way to perhaps curb this kind of non-practice ...

This sign led to a conversation about the worst blocks for uncurbed dogs. Aside from this stretch, one candidate suggested was the north side of East Second Street between Avenue A and First Avenue ... on the sidewalk, dubbed by someone as "poop alley," along the Village View parking lot.

That aside, remember — You don't fuck with East 12th Street.

The turd which inspired this sign must have been massive because its foot print is still visible days later. I think 12th between a & b gets the most dog walkers due to the park and additional 3 community gardens. In addition to a lot of #2s people love to let their dogs leave plenty on #1s on basement doors that some of use every day. What ever happened to the classic "curb your dog" idea?

If the dog picks it all up before us as the sign implores, then we won't have to pick it up at all. So the lesson is to train your dog to pick up ALL the shit, then you won't have to do it after him (or her).

If the weather is bad or I'm in a hurry or the dog poop is messy, I'm not under any social obligation to pick it up. maybe there is an app for that? i can't think or act unless mediated - preferably directed - by cell phone interaction

My block, 8th between B&C, is the worst for dog poop!

20 years in the east village and i say, east 2nd between avenues a and first avenue is THE worst, pile after pile after pile, with at least a dog or two sh*tting while you're walking it. definitely never walk my own two on this block.

Sounds like East 12th is a kid friendly block.

7th st. between A and B along the Park is bad during the summer. The shade from the trees provides good cover for thoughtless dog owners to sneak away and leave the shit for the rest of us.

That's funny - I call Mulberry between Houston and Mott "poop alley", only because my dog likes to poop there. I always pick it up, though.

If I were Dr. Dolittle, I'd tell this dogs to poop at home... Preferably on an expensive rug.

Agree 100% about 2nd between A and 1st. I've avoided the north side for 20 years as well and recently decided I might as well give it another try. It's no better now so I'm sticking to the south side or other streets.

All of you with fucking dogs in Manhattan are filthy loser pigs! It makes no sense for you to have a animal creature here, shittin n pissin where other people live. Even when you "pick it up" it still leaves a mess. I'm disgusted at the amount of people with these dogs ask that are just being pulled by the dog - must be so uncomfortable for both human and dog.
A dog which does not want to live on sidewalks and concrete or that filthy dog park.

It only take a few bad owners to poop up a block.
