Renovations in order for Stuyvesant Grocery and Pete's-A-Place?

Plywood has gone up at 14th Street and Avenue A... where the stores were lost to a three-alarm fire in May...

The only work permit on file states: ALTERATION TYPE 3 - CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT - FENCE
ERECT AND DISMANTLE 8 FOOT HIGH WOOD CONSTRUCTION FENCE AS PER PLANS FILED HEREWITH.

The permit is issued to All City Remodeling in Long Island City....

Perhaps a good sign... Remodeling and not, say, Demolition. So maybe this prime real estate won't become a condo or dorm. In any event, we're still collecting information here on the status...

Oh, pleeeeeease, Pete's-A-Place, come back to us! I miss your pies and your wonderful sandwiches, and have not found a satisfactory replacement...and okay, yeah, bring your silly name with you, if you must...

Well they did an asbestos abatement/removal several wees ago, would they have bothered if the whole thing were going to be bulldozed? I honestly have no idea. Fingers crossed that we get our deli back.

I can taste Pete's "baby pies" every time I walk near that corner, but I'm afraid that we may not see them return, even if they rebuild those stores.

I'm glad to see that work has finally begun on the stores. And I really hope the deli comes back cuz I miss those guys. I hope they're all doing ok.
