How the hell do you lose track of a rock like that?!? Hope whoever lost it gets it back, but I would not be surprised to find out it's gone for good. A shame.

I hope they get it back, show them NY is a kind town.

This is why I never take my rings off when I wash my hands in a public restroom.

It's very easy to lose a ring, especially when you've just washed your hands, the temprature changes, or you have bags with handles to move around.

Absolutely true; I once went to use the restroom in an office where I was seeing a therapist, and on the ledge in the bathroom was an engagement ring solitaire with baguettes.

I took it to the receptionist; it turned out to be hers, and the look of relief on her face was priceless. For the rest if the time I was a client at that office, we were BFFs.

The owner of this ring actually hired someone to stand on St. Marks and hold up a sign regarding the ring.

I lost my wedding band once -- at the gym I think, turned the place over looking for it. The loss hurt me a lot. (Not to mention my husband.)

Such a dumb thing for someone to steal - it was just a small gold circle, not worth that much money, but worth plenty of sentiment to me.

Now I have a new band, and new worries -- I agree that rings are way too easy to lose!

You guys are nicer than me. My first thought was, why in the world should NYC prove to some rich tourist that we're kind? I'd rather they didn't like us and went back home to wherever all disenchanted and vowing never to return. My second thought was, she HIRED someone to stand on St. Marks with a sign about her ring for her?! Who does that!

That's a pretty good sized rock there... Good luck with that. Judging from the phone number the owner is from Los Angeles.
