Last night on Sixth Street between Avenue A and Avenue B.

Getting the Memorial Day Weekend started?

Imagining an Uber and Airbnb merger?

Either way, the police were apparently not too amused, according to Shawn Chittle who took the photo.

Notice how the Donuthing cop is sitting in his or her patrol car talking with the guy. If the guy was black both cops would be out of the car frisking him and telling him to move along or arresting him, but the guy is white so he gets a pass to stumble around drunk.

There should be a Campus PD style show about the nightly debauchery of the East Village called "East Village Nights". It could include the Lower East Side, too, with a location having "Lower East Side" under it so as to distinguish it from being an EV location.

Uber? Anyone able to get an ID on any driver? Who are they? Where do they come from? Who vets them? Why not just hail any car...put out your thumb and hitch? Anyone can drive..with our without a license or insurance. Maybe the NYPD or Taxi & Limo Dept can vet them.
AirBNB? Same question. Just whose house are you staying in? Background checks? People who are on the financial brink and open their places to get some money? Who is watching your stuff while you are out? Do you need to check your bags carefully before you leave for missing...or worse...stuff put in?
I wouldn't use either of these services...not even for free.

Dude was sound asleep standing up even with 500 watts of NYPD lights flashing in his face. They eventually woke him up. I left before I could see if they took him to the precinct... or home...
