TR Crandall Guitars opening soon on East Third Street

[Via @TRCguitars]

Signs are up at 179 E. Third St. between Avenue A and Avenue B for TR Crandall Guitars ... we asked them about the storefront via Facebook:

"We plan to be open full time starting April 8th. We specialize in fine quality vintage acoustic guitars, banjos, mandolins and ukuleles. We will have an unequalled repair shop with master craftsman Tom Crandall at the helm."

Crandall is a 13-year veteran of Matt Umanov Guitars on Bleecker Street.

This is great news. Tom's just about the best acoustic repair guy in town. The backlog for repairs at Umanov's was often months long, so hopefully the new shop won't be so overwhelmed. Sure they'll be busy, though. Welcome.

That's great for the neighborhood! I wish them great success here. I hope a specialty guitar shop can survive in the 2010s East Village. There is hope, since that shop on 7th street is somehow managing...

Happy to hear this business has graced our neighborhood. Would love to see more shops like this find a place in the East Village.
