The Donut Pub opening an outpost on Astor Place

The Donut Pub, which Buzzy Geduld opened on 14th Street and Seventh Avenue in December 1964, will soon have a second location — 740 Broadway at Astor Place. (Across the street from The Famous Cozy Soup 'n' Burger.)

The news comes courtesy of food writer Nick Solares via Instagram...

The coming soon sign shows a fall opening.

The no-frills space reminiscent of a diner has many fans — for both its doughnuts and ambiance. As New York magazine wrote: "In a Krispy-Kreme and Dunkin' Donut world, it's comforting to know there are still places E.B. White might have recognized during his ambulations through the streets of New York."

Will be interesting to see how the owners replicate the Chelsea space. And will this location have that same great Donut Pub neon as the original?

Wow! I’ve been going to Donut Pub for thirty years and love that place. I hope the new joint is just as straight-forward and delicious.

Yes! Finally a normal old school donut shop like we used to have on every other busy corner. Now we just need a Disco Donut on 14th St. and we’re all set.

i loved them when they sat in a less exclusive neighborhood and now that they the area is more upscale
they have always had some of the best donuts in the city

This is wonderful news. I always grab a donut there on 7th and 14th when I am in that neighborhood. They are most certainly old school and offer a charm and comfort not seen elsewhere. I will love this addition to our EV neighborhood. As a short and stocky bloke, my 34 inch waist won't like it, but who cares. Donuts make the world happier :)

Crap, there goes the diet. The gest doughnuts in the city, bar none. (And second that request for a re-opening of Disco Donuts!)

Another +1 to the other comments.
Would love it if they could step-up their coffee a bit though.

Yeah!!! As a person with a severe nut allergy this is truly a godsend. I just hope they keep the menu/flavors as is because I can't frequent the other donut stores that use nuts and peanut butter

I hope you're aware that Erin McKenna's Bakery (formerly Babycakes) on Broome Street avoids the use of all common allergens, including nuts.

And they have baked donuts, which are healthier.
