André Balazs on his 'more quiet' Standard

Over at Grub Street today, Mara Siegler chats with hotelier André Balazs, who talks a bit about his latest property — the Cooper Square Hotel The Standard East Village. To the soundbites!

"It’s a more residential, more quiet — more introspective, if you will — Standard."

And!

"There will not be a nightclub, and the chef — we’re talking to a bunch of people now and it will be a very dramatic redesign of the space, but it won’t be a nightclub."

"but it won’t be a nightclub."

Of course not, it'll be a 7-Eleven. Or a Starbucks. Or a Subway...

You know what, get the fuck out of here.

While laughing boy has got that bunch on folks working on ideas, maybe they could also make themselves useful, and conduct a search around Cooper Square- for my will to live. After having listened to this nickempoop's half baked ideas, I seemed to have lost it somewhere.

The old incarnation was quiet too... that's why they sold it!

Introspective, yes. The Standard will be just perfect for new age musicians, reclusive novelists, and/or eastern mystics on sabbaticals to NYC's EV.
