Black Hound New York space for lease



After 26 years in the East Village, Black Hound New York closed its retail location at 170 Second Ave. last Sunday … the space was quickly cleaned out … and the for rent signs are up. No word on asking rent, though you can email Seth and inquire…



As previously noted, local customers can "still enjoy Black Hound treats" via a delivery service from their Greenpoint bakery. You can also pick up orders by appointment there.

I think the landlord is going to regret this. The space is not large enough for a bar, so I foresee a long time without an occupant and after that, a lot of turnover.

I agree with the previous poster. Why not hold onto a long-term tenant who was paying the rent? This is an odd space and it won't work for a lot of businesses.

No one ever said landlords were smart. The landlord in this situation is not smart.

Landlords are rich, they are greedy, and they want turn-over (b/c turn-over is SUPPOSED to always lead to more $$ for them). That's what they learn in landlord school.

But sometimes landlords are not only wrong, but stupid wrong! I agree that a *smart* landlord would have kept Black Hound as a great, stable, long-term tenant in that space.
