All told, one of the crew members told EVG reader dbs, who took these photos, that the whole job likely cost some $20,000. A small price for some beautiful music?

Well, that is interesting, since I used to live on the 2nd floor of that building for many years. I lived there from 1996-2010. The three windows in the front seen in the last photo below the moving container were the windows of my residence.
I have an 88-key USB MIDI keyboard, plug it into my computer. It cost a couple hundred bucks. It's no Steinway but to a NYC apartment dweller it is a godsend. I can play my little heart out any old time I want. If you haven't played around with it you'd be surprised at how lifelike modern Virtual Studio Technology can sound.
