Celebrate Halloween with construction and water service interruptions!
[EVG reader photo]
Just a heads up if you haven't seen these flyers... advising "that on or about the week of Monday, October 31, 2016, the New York City Department of Design & Construction will begin replacement of water mains at various locations."
As you can see, the "actual work boundaries" include 10th Street between First Avenue and Avenue B, Avenue A between 11th Street and 12th Street and First Avenue between 10th Street and 12th Street.
And there will be some water service interruptions in some of these areas, the flyers warn. (The city is supposed to allow 72 hours notice of any water shut off)... no word on just how long this will take. Feel free to leave your guesses in the comments.

Will the Russian baths shut down?
I'm on 12th and they already started! There's also a bad smell coming into my window.
They have been slicing pavement in front of my building all morning. I wonder how they will handle the water shut down(s) as in 7:00 am before everyone gets to take a shower or say after 9 when most have left for work? Anyone had this happen on their block before?
The work needs to be done. We don't want any water main breaks, and I appreciate the notice. I hate the noise, but what can you do? I am glad it is being taken care of now.
they just fimished digging up the streets to put down huge pipes
enormous pipes
why can't they coordinate the digging up of streets?
doesn't anybody communucate?
amazing that anything gets done in this city
each "improvement" is at least 10 steps backward
Where are the notices about the Sunday construction on E 14th between Avenues A & B? Oh, wait, there aren't any. I have to say that they've been pretty good about not working on Sundays previously, but now it's been at least three weeks in a row. 311? Useless.
Has anyone gotten a timeframe on this project? Do they dig a new trench? Is this days, weeks, months of jackhammering? Any ideas?
This is nice. Thanks for sharing with us
