In case you've been wondering about the fireworks too...

Some teenaged a**hole was doing this from about 2am to 4am one 4th of July from a roof next door to me here in SoHo a few years ago.
Couldn't sleep for hours.

So, I got up out of bed, waited on the bed, when he came out on the roof to set more off, I sprang on him. Terrified, he pleaded, "Mister, I'm only a kid."

He ran back in to his building, and locked the door before I could grab him.

So, I trashed his father's roof garden, knocking all the plants over.
I wonder how he would explain that mess to the old man the next day.

Anyway, never heard his fireworks since.

This particular bunch of a**holes on East 11th are beyond their teen years. The fireworks are just a ramp up of their ongoing escapades. And they are often competing with another noisy group of butt cracks on East 10th where the cops have made repeated visits.

First time in a long time 4th of July and after were so crazy with fireworks in the EV. Same prob around 12th and A. Lax laws? Less enforcement? More NYU tenants in the hood?

I'm actua lly torn on this one. My first reaction immediately after reading was the same as Shawn's. But after looking at it from their point of view, posting a sign like that may no t be a bad idea. I mean if the cops were called twice and nothing happened, other than confronting these people yourself and ris k getting your a$$ kicked, rallying the troops may be the way to go... but then again, my opinion might change depending on whether this occurs on weeknights or weekends...
