Manhattanhenge no-show

Clouds took care of any chance of a truly Instagramable Manhattanhenge for a second sunset in a row

Not sure about crowds elsewhere in wait… but there were a few dozen people at the end of East 14th Street at Avenue C hoping for a show…

The next opportunity will arrive in July…

Wait a minute. People with cameras on tripods in the middle of the street? Isn't that blocking traffic? Where is NYPD to clear these people who are gathered without a permit and where cars have to pass?

I'm being sarcastic because funny how the cops don't give a fuck when people are gathered for something other than protesting about police brutality borne from some cops thinking they're above everyone else, everyone is out to get them blah blah blah.

Neither here nor there, but the people in the last photo on this post weren't blocking traffic. They were in front of the Con Ed power plant where 14th Street dead ends on the east side.

'Looks like a crosswalk to me (lines below them) but ok, say that was in front of the Con Ed plant. That's a gathering which requires a permit as I'm sure there were more than the minimum twenty people which requires a permit to congregate. So where were the cops to give this group of at least twenty people a ticket for gathering without a permit?

Btw I'm not calling for these people to be bothered/ticketed by cops, I'm just saying how hypocritical and anti-American that the cops break up groups protesting them but some typical transplant/hipster/millenial look how cool we are/this us crap like this doesn't get bothered.

I was walking up on 14th when folks were gathering for this. At first I was confused but then realized it was Manhattanhenge. There was several people on the crosswalks on ave, b, a, etc.
It was pretty annoying, not only did they make it tough for folks to use the crosswalks, they actually blocked traffic. Some idiot couples decided to even stand in the middle of both lanes!
Eventually, there was a cop van, telling folks to get out of the street. I didn't stick around long enough to see if more cops appeared on the scene.
I don't recall the last Manhattanhenge being such a hubbub, but I could be wrong. I don't see the big deal? "ohh the sunset has aligned with the city's grid! amazing! Finally my selfie stick has a purpose!"
