Avenue A Classic Food opening soon on — surprise! — Avenue A

Looks like Ray will have a little food company next door on Avenue A.

The awning is up for the new business taking over half of the former Alphabets space at 115 Avenue A — Avenue A Classic Food.

As you can see, the deli near East Seventh Street will sell wraps, smoothies, fresh juice, etc. We don't know much else about the new place at the moment.

I saw their awning this weekend. I hope Ray's will use this as inspiration to clean up the front of his store!

@East Village Today - your name even makes me cringe. It sounds like a real estate magazine.

Anyway, Ray's storefront is great. Historic, colorful, full of character. It's plenty "clean". Not sure what you want him to do but that's an obnoxious statement and not very "East Village".

Giovanni,

I'm glad you mentioned the trashy thing in front of Ray's, I really think if he gets rid of that thing it would look much nicer.

It reminds me of a song by Stevie Wonder, called Living For The City:

"To walk to school she's got to get up early
Her clothes are old but never are they dirty
Living just enough, just enough for the city"

Oh no, you guys click on her link. It's a trap!

If East Village Today were to go to China and start a blog called China Today, she'd be saying that they should use fork and spoons.

Perhaps you yourself, East Village Today, are "the trashy thing in front of Ray's." Run back to suburbia, child, and darken our doors no more.

There certainly are a lot of shills for the new deli here, trying to stop Ray's from fixing up his place so they can drive him out of business.
