Reader report: Former Yaffa Cafe backyard garden will be turned over to residential use

According to workers at the scene, Yaffa Cafe's now-defunct backyard garden will be redone for use by the building tenants at 97 St. Mark's Place.

Perhaps they will be more quiet than some Yaffa patrons

Hey, that's great! Lucky residents. :)

You mean, the new residents will turn this into their own private frat, keg, pregaming, barbecue, and all day and all night DJ-fueled rooftoplike parties. WOOOO!

Looks like that tenant complainer who helped push out Yaffa Cafe will now just have to deal with all the loud parties the other tenants are going to have here. Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.

Giovanni, we only have the word of owner of Yaffa that one person was responsible for all the noise complaints. Look at this picture and see how many windows to neighboring buildings are within earshot of this garden. If Yaffa was a 24 hour place (I may be wrong) I can't image putting up with people talking outside my bedroom window in the summer (not everybody runs the AC year round). I do agree however that what or who replaces Yaffa's clientele could be just as bad or worst.

That's great for the tenants. Backyards shouldn't be for businesses, but for residents.

If you want a backyard move to the suburbs.

I hope the idiots who get this backyard make as much noise as the annual rotation of idiots behind my apartment. That'll be perfect revenue for the princess that got Yaffa closed.

It wouldn't surprise me if this wasn't behind the DOH coming down so hard on Yaffa & the lose of their garden space. The landlord probably wanted them out...
