With Christmas and New Year's falling on Sundays this year... today is the last day for the Tompkins Square Greenmarket until Jan. 8.

Thats a very wet looking greenmarket. Luckily most of their merchandise is waterproof.
With Christmas and New Years being on Sunday, the flea market and the farmers market close, and those businesses will be hurting with the lack of holiday sales. Maybe those two holidays should be re-dated like what was done with President's Day and Columbus Day, and assign them to a fixed day in December? Christmas could be the next to last Monday in December, New Years could be the last Monday in December.

Well, Christmas is being "observed" on the 26th, according to my calendar. That's so [human] bank tellers and office workers can have a day off.
I love the TSP Greenmarket because it is in tune with the daily rhythms of real life. the days that the celebrations of Christmas & New Year occur are well known in advance and farmers have ever plenty of time to prepare for their arrival.
