A reader shares this photo from this morning... showing the DSNY cleaning up underneath the sidewalk bridge on the NW corner of Houston Street and Avenue B (
6 Avenue B) ... where Max has been living off and on for a few years.
There wasn't any sign of Max at the moment... or the dozens of suitcases marked with "FBI evidence."

I have to admit, I'm quite taken by the stoic beauty of this scaffolding.
The City has moved Max and all his luggage several times before but he always comes back with even more luggage to set up camp at the same spot under the same scaffolding. He has been a consistent presence on the LES for years.
Looked like his suitcases had been moved around the corner to Avenue B?
I’m conflicted, I’m glad this corner is finally getting cleaned up for us that live near and businesses close by and hope Max is warm and safe some place
It’s so cold this week. I see a woman on Wannamaker Place and Broadway every day walking to work and it hurts my heart. I know there are reasons for not wanting to be in a shelter . I just think if I’m freezing in my 16 minute walk she must be so cold outside all day and night. Let’s hope Max was offered a safe , warm place to live with his belongings.
Last week I believe I passed the longest duration homeless person in NYC. If it is indeed the same person, a rather guant and very haggard looking woman who I assume is mentally ill but refuses to go to a shelter,
she's been around the vicinity of of 8th St and University PL for at least the last 30 years. Incredible someone can survive those rough years physically to say nothing of the minute by minute relentless mental tedium.
I find it amazing that, given the amount of money earmarked to deal with the homeless issue averaging about $20K per person, we have even more homelessness, filthy dangerous shelters and no housing for those living on the street.
Thanks, EV Grieve. Any and all updates on Max would be appreciated and I'll keep you posted if I see him or his stuff.
