Little Pakistan Deli has apparently closed on 2nd Avenue

There hasn't been any sign of life here at 200 Second Ave. between East 12th Street and East 13th Street. We heard a city marshal seized the deli earlier in the week. We noticed it closed starting this past Wednesday.

Meanwhile, next door along this stretch of businesses with Little and country names in them, Little Poland remains alive and well...

I remember when, after the death of Princess Di, this place changed its name to the Diana and Dodi Deli and painted the awning cotton candy pink and lurid purple. I have a photo of it somewhere...

Isn't LIttle Pakistan where they found Bin Laden?

Speaking of another chain store, today I noticed, in the windows of the now-vanished 99 cent store by the old Stuyvesant PO, grimy red, white and blue banners announcing the space's new tenant - Domino's Pizza.

Eating my takeout oatmeal from Little Poland now. The Polish ladies have finally started cracking a smile for me.

Wasn't this place also "Noopy Deli" before Diana Dodi? You could see where they had to peel off an "S" before the "noopy" and a faded image of a dancing Snoopy on the awning.

Their location was the problem. As everyone knows, If you look at any map, Pakistan is always located to the right of Poland. Their mistake was being located to the left.

I thought this was Samba Deli.

Yes! It was Snoopy's Deli, then became "noopy Deli" after the lawyers stepped in. Then Diana Dodi.
