The folks at
Maiden Lane, the 13-month-old cafe on Avenue B and East 10th Street, let us know that their sidewalk cafe opened on Tuesday ... with eight tables on the East 10th Street side facing Tompkins Square Park.

Here's what's coming to the former Life Cafe space

Is that the space where the former 'Life' cafe used to be?
Yes — Life Cafe closed here in September 2011.
expensive canned seafood is best eaten outdoors on sweltering 90 degree days, so as to pair with the wafting locally sourced odors of this corner. "this one got into an onion patch"
Just checked out their menu, it is eminently snobby. Not to nitpick but it doesn't seem very "locally sourced" as per their original claims--half of the menu consists of canned seafood from Europe.
Why is it named "Maiden Lane"? Is there a restaurant on Maiden Lane named "10th & B"?
Maiden Lane is a street in the financial district. Get with the money.
@ Pete- Hahahaha! "The lady will have the linguine with white clam sauce & coke- no ice"
complain all you want, but this is absolutely great for the neighborhood, outdoor sidewalk seating is never a bad thing!
About time! I love this place! P.s. The food is surprisingly good and great wines.
