Santa Barbara Deli returns after renovations on Avenue B

After a two-month renovation, the corner market on East 12th Street and Avenue B is back with a new look … including a new floor and ceiling … and new name, having lost the Superette.

We never really shopped here much, so we can't say much about what is new and better about the space… if this is your regular spot, then let us know in the comments…

Haven't been in yet, but I already saw something in the window that I need. Something I use every day: wooden kitchen matches. I use them to light my stove and they're not that easy to find any more. But that's the way Santa Barbara has always been, they have what you need. And if you don't see it, ask for it. The matches are way high up.

Altho it doesn't look like it fits into the EV or NY (it would go great in Bedrock, home to the Flintstones and the Rubbles), I sorta like the 1950s California Modern vibe. Welcome back, in any case!

Thank you, Trixie; we also still have a stove without electronic ignition. (For the oven, we use the long fireplace matches, formerly available at Surprise!Surprise!)

I am happy they've reopened, and although I really hadn't shopped here before, I'll definitely go in now.

Their new renovation is certainly more welcoming and I surely hope it beings them more business, but we have to be honest here that the stock and smell are exactly the same as before.
