The all-new 360 Bowery is in the piledriving and jackhammering phase

Foundation work is underway on the 21-floor office building coming to 360 Bowery at Fourth Street.

This means, in recent days, that workers are jackhammering away at the base of the previous tenant, B Bar & Grill... there's some piledriving happening too...
The B Bar (b 1994) never reopened after the PAUSE in March 2020. Our previous posts have more background on this Midtown-friendly development via Bowery Hotel owner Eric Goode.

Something doesn't add up. The corporate employers are basically holding a gun to the heads of their employees to return to their offices, and yet, here in the East Village, we have the massive "Zero Irving", the nine story office structure on St Mark's Place and this 21 story behemoth being built.

Build it, and they will come seems a bit optimistic . No?

They've already monetized the space into the future - for the developers, it is not about providing any kind of actual service - that's is for a future operator. The developer's job is to pull together all the debt needed to fund the project.

I am still morning the loss of the six Honey Locust trees in the former court yard of the B Bar and the three other Honey Locust tress that were in the sidewalk tree pits on 4th Street that were all cut down to make way for the glass and steel monstrosity that they are building here. I guess that large advertisement sign is going to go as well as the building they are going to put up here is going to overshadow and cover it up.
