EV Grieve is an ad-free East Village blog where you'll find local news on the real estate, restaurants and residents of the East Village NYC. Launched in December 2007.
Perhaps someone's way to deposit trash without touching the handle (& it's not even flu season yet). Similarly fancy trash cans in other places have a foot pedal as the method to access bins like this. Maybe a retrofit is included in the high price we paid for these things.
@Anon 8:01. FYI the new additional big bellies placed in Tompkins Park do now in fact have foot petals. Someone got the memo! Yes, it would be wonderful if the originals would be retrofitted but very doubtful.
Actually, 8:01pm, it is flu season as I just got my flu shot last Friday and I urge everyone to do the same. There are places all over the city offering free flu shots.
Have a story idea or tip about something happening in the East Village? Or maybe a photo? Or several photos? Or video! We'd love to hear about it. Or see it. Or something. Please go here to submit a tip.

Here, you'll find things that you may or may not be interested in about the East Village and other parts of New York City. Appreciating what's here while it's still here. Remembering what's no longer here. Wishing some things weren't here that are here.

No worries, this is just St. Nicholas Church's subtle way of letting us know the Cookie Walk is less than 2 months away.
