New trees for Tompkins Square Park

Workers are out in Tompkins Square Park this morning planting new trees (we heard 17 in total!) ... Goggla shared these photos...

... and a few more photos showing the incoming trees, courtesy of Vinny & O ...

That marshy pit near the center of the Park was also recipient of a tree... should keep Park vehicles for driving over the spot and leaving tire grooves in the mud...

... and another of the new trees ... this photo is via Steven...

A good amount of mature trees were planted. It appears that all were planted on the west side of the park this time All the available tree pits in the circle surrounding the main green are now finally occupied. I think this is the first time ever. YEAH!! Hopefully (but not holding my breath) they will receive those green water bags before next year's heat. Or just maybe a new gardener (hopefully)will be diligent in caring for them the first year. Now if people would only stop feeling it their privilege to allow their dogs to occupy all the green spaces outside the official dog run the park may be on a path of rebirth

Unfortunately, people with dogs always think their dog's comfort and leisure are of utmost importance—kinda like people with kids.

I am amazed. Truly.
It sort of feels to me like a final blessing from Debi the Gardener. But, thanks to whomever.

This is great! And yeah I don't understand why people go in that other area with dogs when the dog park is right there. It's annoying. I get it if it's a single dog that runs around for a few minutes because it doesn't play well or can't play with other dogs. But if it's more than one, go to the dog park, you're annoying.
