Extremely well attended this year and seemed to skew younger. And this may be anecdotal but while Santacons are usually mostly white people, this was the whitest Santacon since ever, or since the small herd of college kids all those years ago. But I don't drink hardly and certainly not in a SantasWelcome bar so ...

I, for one, welcome our Santa overlords. More people this year compared to last few. Not my scene, but just let em’ be as far as I’m concerned.

I gave 'em the finger every chance I got. Bah humbug.

It's a drunken day and night long pub crawl masquerading as a charity event. 7:19 says just let em be. That's a little hard with SantConers throwing up and urinating on the street and in doorways.

SO SORRY I STAYED HOME AND MISSED GETTING PUKED ON AND JOSTLED BY HORDES OF DRUNKEN LOSERS.

I just saw in the news that 4 Santacon participants were arrested...I guess they had too much drink.

Wash, rinse, repeat.

"As I have posted at Facebook and Twitter, if this "charity" event was a people of color event, the National Guard would have been called out. White privilege at its worst."

In 2020, SantaCon should be moved to Gracie Mansion so DeBlasio can experience it firsthand!!!

Of course not. NYPD participates in it. Fix is in. See @placardabuse for the logic.

Bunch of entitled, stupid, drunk fools who should hold this event either in mommy & daddy's basement OR (as suggested above) at Gracie Mansion and the upper east side, just to spread the "fun".

Everywhere I had to go yesterday, I did NOT get out of their way; I just plowed right through their sidewalk-width groups with my elbows out.

I hope they all have massively horrible hangovers today.

This was in Hoboken.

Good to see that their PD is not on the take.

I left my apartment briefly for lunch and during that time say 2 santas urinating in a corner between someone's stoop and building on 1st street (with 2 others blocking them, not realizing that urine flows downhill towards the street ;). I didn't venture out after that but I thought it sounded like it wrapped up relatively early, or maybe that was just at the 3 bars I can hear from my apartment.

Definitely busy and younger this year. Looks like a serious payday for participating bars. And apparently lots of pregame parties as I guess the demographic is now starting to rent around here.

I don’t think it’s that bad. People say they hate it but it seems to be a bunch of band wagon hopping. People can’t seem to logically find a reason to hate it. Sure there’s a bunch of people dressed the same but if they weren’t they would still be vomiting on Saturday night in the EV.

Non-bandwagon hoppers will tell you that they just don’t care for the event. However if others want to go out and celebrate the holidays than who’s going to stop them?

Will bars turn away people dressed in Santa outfits other days this month? It’s all a lot of conjecture.

Even though the irony is that places like Trader Bros moving into the neighborhood will bring more of the young Santa Con types.

Pick your hill to die on I guess.

@5:00pm: "However if others want to go out and celebrate the holidays than who’s going to stop them?" Clearly nobody (including police and elected officials) has stopped them yet in the course of many years of vomit- and piss-soaked "celebrations".

But, IMO, if the main way that many people can really enjoy and "celebrate the holidays" is to get up very early & travel into Manhattan with the specific intention of getting drunk starting at 10am on a Saturday, perhaps there's something very wrong with them and their "values".

“People can’t seem to logically find a reason to hate it”??!
You are a dim light, Anonymous @ 5pm.
Way to be part of a cultural deadening.
...unless you are 17 years old and just don’t understand most things yet? In which case, I’m glad you are cruising this website. There could still be hope for you.

A dim light because I'm capable of recognizing that people piss and vomit and day drink in NYC almost every day of the year? The exception to this observation being that most of the time the people doing the pissing, vomiting, and day drinking outside of Santa Con are those who are less fortunate than others, the homeless, mentally ill. I don't think 1 day a year in which a bunch of young 20-somethings walk about making the same mistakes that everyone else has in their youth is as big of deal as it's made out to be. In fact a nearly identical tradition happens in March called St. Patrick's Day and that holiday doesn't receive the unreasonable backlash and stigma that Santa Con does. Neither are real holidays. Let's not pretend that Santa Con and it's attendees are the sole perpetrator of the cultural and social issues that have been compacted throughout our society. That's just dim light.

@8:55PM If you keep posting these drunk diatribes we are going to have to call your AA sponsor and tell him to come pick you up at the bar.
