Insomnia Cookies opening an East Village outpost

Well, we just noticed this the other day: Small signs for Insomnia Cookies above Plump Dumpling (or whatever it is now) on the northeast corner of Second Avenue and East 11th Street...

Insomnia confirmed that they are opening a location in the East Village ... though didn't specify where exactly. (There is an empty storefront behind Plump Dumpling.) They are also hiring here now.

Oh, and what are Insomnia Cookies? Here is their description via Facebook:

Insomnia Cookies was born out of the dislike of heavy meals late at night, love of food delivery, and the realization that by the time you get hungry at night, nothing is open.

Insomnia Cookies serves fresh, oven baked cookies in an assortment of flavors and offers delivery until 3AM! Popular flavors include Chocolate Chunk, Snickerdoodle, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup and the S'mores Deluxe. Insomnia Cookies also offers brownies, cookie cakes and ice cream with toppings such as Mint Chocolate, Cookie Dough and Snickers. The requisite pint of cold milk is available with any order. Insomnia Cookies…baked right, late night!

While primarily serving college students and the late-night crowd, we also offer nationwide gifting options and a catering menu for businesses, parties and other events.

Insomnia Cookies has more than 40 locations in the United States... with six storefronts in NYC.

Oh goodie. More frat food. Remind me to stumble over there for dessert after I've had my 4 AM drunk biscuits.

This neighborhood is turning into a giant dorm room/school cafeteria.

this is way too much anger about cookies.

The infantilization continues. Yay!

Agreed w/ Olympia. Bragging about being open until 3am in Manhattan is totally junior varsity. Hey Insomnia Cookies, How about doing a little market research you bungholes. Even just a little would've been great and might have prevented you from coming off like total newbie asshats.

ConEd and FDNY were at this building this morning. Coincidence?

It is going into the space behind plump dumpling on 11th street. The gate was up one day last week and an insomnia cookie sign was in there. The last I remember the space was home to Happy Time, a tiny bar that served beer and dumplings from plump dumpling (and presumably shared the kitchen with them as well).

i enjoyed the occasional cookie from their old shop on 8th street - they've been around for awhile - I think the 3am is significant to them because they actually deliver that late. Now we could discuss the fact that white sugar is basically a drug like cocaine and while it won't kill you the first time it is a form of slow death.

They really know how to talk bullshit about some cookies. I can only imagine the person that would go here to buy cookies or worst call for a delivery a 2:50 am. OMG its not 3am yet let's get some amazing cookies, this will be sooooo awesome. Woo.
