Asian in America do little else besides contribute positively to their communities. Hard work, family values, stay out of trouble, that seems to be the Asian-American ethic, if there is such a thing. So yeah I'd say they deserve a little extra protection, since people are trying to target them specifically for whatever stupid reason.

Yes, 100%.

This rise in anti-Asian violence is absolutely disgusting. Just as vile are people who stand by and do NOTHING when someone is in dire need of help, for example the 65 year old woman attacked the other day. Karma is a bitch.

My Asian friends have been dealing with more abuse since the beginning of the pandemic. In the beginning, some people would freak out at them just because they were among the first ones to wear masks, which made it seem like less of a hate crime. A Filipina friend would cover her mask with a scarf to avoid abuse. Now that everyone is wearing masks it has become clearer that this is purely about their ethnicity. Senator Moynihan’s daughter freaked out at an Asian woman in Peter Cooper a coupe of weeks ago. A day or two later the Asian Spa massacre in Atlanta happened. Now we have a doorman closing the door on a woman who was attacked on the street near Times
Square. An Asian granny in San Francisco fought back and put her attacker in the hospital. People are getting beaten unconscious on the subway. Bullies have suddenly turned their anger and racism towards Asians. They have picked up on the anti-Asian vibe coming from some of our worst politicians and talking heads. It must stop before it becomes even worse. People need to step in when the see it happening or we will all become a target some day.
