With Tropical Storm Henri on the way, we wondered what Key Food might be like this evening on Avenue A. (Through the years the grocery has been
picked over ahead of a storm.)
EVG contributor Stacie Joy stopped by to check in on essential items... the shelves were well-stocked...
Milk! Eggs! Bread! Beer!
And the music was topical as well... Stacie heard Blind Melon's "No Rain" while there... a choice that inspired a sing-along in the snacks aisle...

I think everyone is sick and tired of going into panic mode.
ha. I need this opportunity to use up what's stocked in my pantry.
New Yorkers don't buy milk, bread or eggs in anticipation of disaster. They buy ice cream, chips and booze. And maybe some avocados for guacamole.
The store has become horrible as far as putting prices on items, i picked up 5 items this evening 3 of them had no price on
9;09 pm Manhattan was never mentioned as hurricane hitting, so why would anyone panic
@7pm Trader Joe at avenue a was a zoo, but the one at 3rd Ave was a lot less frightful and shorter line too.
No line at their wine shop😀
And you know people pop out for coffee and brunches once the rain lightens. We get cable fever too easily.
Good thing Henri did not turn into a Hurricane, but there's lots of rain, watch out for trees coming down! Stay safe out there.
Great Photographs Stacie! Thanks
I went yesterday at 8:45am and bought candles, matches and some canned food. But when I got home I was like, This isn't 2012 when I was broke. I don't have to sit in a dark, un-air-conditioned hovel eating Chunky Soup. If we lose power, I'll just go uptown and stay in a bloody hotel!
i love keyfood
@12:04 am I don’t think stores use price tags that much anymore, most just scans the product barcodes. Other than that prices are provided by the company selling the product.
As long as Con Ed doesn't do anything stupid like allowing one of their main generators to blow, we should be ok.
